TrackReels Community Guidelines
Version: 1.1
Last updated: 1 August 2026
Applies to: every profile, reel, caption, leaderboard entry, message and comment on trackreels.io
1. The short version
TrackReels exists for one thing: showing what you can do on the track, in the runway, in the circle, and in the cage. Post your races, your jumps, your throws, your training. Keep it real, keep it accurate, keep it safe for a platform where a lot of the athletes are 13 to 18 years old.
Three rules cover most of it:
- Post athletics. If a college coach would not care about it, it probably does not belong here.
- Tell the truth. Real name, real graduation year, real marks, real dates, real video.
- Treat everyone like they are standing next to you at the meet. No abuse, no harassment, no creeping, no scams.
If you are under 18, read section 8. If you are a coach or recruiter, read section 9. Both are short and both matter.
2. What belongs on TrackReels
These are exactly the things we want more of:
- Competition footage. Races, heats, finals, relay legs, jumps, vaults, throws, multi events, cross country, road races, indoor and outdoor.
- Training footage. Sessions, drills, blocks work, approach runs, plyos, lifts, technique work, treadmill and track workouts.
- Athletic highlights. Personal bests, season openers, comeback races, split screens of technique, slow motion of a jump, a throw from three angles.
- Verified results and marks. Time or distance or height, event, date, wind where it applies, meet name and placement where you have them.
- Your athletic story. A short bio, your events, your grad year, your state, your goals, your recruiting status, coach references you have permission to list.
- Team and relay content where you are one of the athletes shown.
- Meet environment shots that support the athletic content: the venue, the scoreboard, your bib, the podium, the results sheet.
2.1 Rules for reels
- The date, event and mark you enter must match the footage. Do not label a training rep as a meet result.
- Wind readings matter. If a mark is wind aided, mark it wind aided. Do not put a wind aided mark forward as legal for leaderboard purposes.
- No doctored footage. No speeding up a video, no cutting a false start out, no editing a scoreboard, no AI generated or AI altered performance video. Slow motion, zoom, cropping, stabilisation, music and captions are all fine.
- No stolen footage. Post video you filmed, video someone filmed of you, or video you have permission to use. Broadcast and streaming footage of a meet usually belongs to the broadcaster, so use it only if you have the right to.
- You must be in it. Reels on your profile should show you competing or training. A highlight reel of somebody else's race is not your reel.
2.2 Rules for profiles
- One profile per athlete. Your real name and your real graduation year.
- Do not claim a school, club or coach you are not with.
- Height and weight are optional. Leave them off if you would rather.
- Do not put your phone number, home address, personal email, school schedule or exact daily training location in a public bio.
2.3 Rules for leaderboards and badges
Leaderboards rank athletes by best legal mark. Badges like TR US #1 are awarded from what is on the platform, and they are not an official governing body result.
- Do not submit a mark you did not run, jump or throw.
- Do not submit hand timed marks as fully automatic timing, and do not convert marks silently.
- Do not run multiple accounts to work a leaderboard.
- Faking a mark to win a badge is one of the fastest ways to lose your account. We will remove the mark, remove the badge, and depending on how deliberate it was, remove the account.
3. What is banned
This list applies to reels, thumbnails, profile photos, bios, captions, meet names, comments and direct messages.
Sexual content
- Nudity, sexual acts, sexually explicit content, pornography, or links to it.
- Sexualised content involving anyone under 18, in any form, ever. This is a permanent ban with no appeal, and we report it to the authorities. See section 6.
- Sexual comments, sexual propositions, or unwanted sexual attention directed at any user, and absolutely never directed at a minor.
- Content that exists to sexualise an athlete's body rather than show their performance, including footage filmed to focus on a body part rather than the event.
Violence and gore
- Graphic violence, gore, real fights, assault, animal cruelty, or footage of death or serious harm.
- Threats of violence against anyone, including opponents, officials, coaches or rival programs.
- Dangerous challenges or stunts likely to get someone hurt.
Hate and extremism
- Slurs and attacks based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation.
- Hate symbols, hate group insignia, extremist or terrorist propaganda, or glorification of mass violence.
Harassment and bullying
- Targeting anyone with insults, pile ons, mockery of a bad race, mockery of a body, or repeated unwanted contact.
- Posting private information about someone else: phone number, address, school, family details, screenshots of private messages.
- Impersonating another athlete, coach, school, brand or TrackReels itself.
- Coordinated attacks on an athlete, a team or a coach.
Self harm
- Content that encourages, instructs in or glorifies self harm, suicide or eating disorders, including "what I eat in a day" content framed around restriction, purging, or hitting a weight target through starvation.
- We treat this as a safety issue first. If you are struggling, section 7 tells you what happens and where to go.
Drugs, alcohol and performance enhancing drugs
- Drug use, drug sales, drug paraphernalia, vaping or tobacco content.
- Alcohol content from or aimed at minors, and any content encouraging underage drinking.
- Promoting, selling, sourcing or coaching the use of banned performance enhancing substances or methods. This includes SARMs, anabolic steroids, EPO, blood doping and "coaching" accounts that sell protocols. Talking honestly about anti doping, testing, or your own past sanction is allowed.
Weapons
- Firearms, knives and other weapons used to threaten, brandished for the camera, or offered for sale.
- Competition implements are not weapons. Javelins, discus, shot, hammer, starter pistols fired by an official at the line, and spikes are all normal athletics equipment and are allowed.
Gambling
- Promoting sportsbooks, betting sites, odds, tipster services, casino apps or crypto betting.
- Soliciting bets on athletics results, including on your own races.
Spam and scams
- Bulk posting, engagement farming, off platform link dumps, follow-for-follow schemes.
- Fake recruiting services, pay to play "exposure" offers, fake agents, fake NIL deals, fake scholarship offers, phishing, crypto or investment pitches, and anyone asking a young athlete to send money or gift cards.
- If someone messages you promising a scholarship in exchange for a payment, report it. That is a scam every time.
Off topic content
- Content unrelated to track and field, cross country or road running. Political campaigning, general lifestyle vlogging, music promotion, memes, unrelated sports. Not evil, just not what this platform is. It gets removed from public surfaces and is not counted as a serious strike.
Safety and legal
- Content that puts a minor at risk, including asking a minor to move a conversation off platform, asking for private photos, asking for their location or schedule, or offering gifts, money or "recruiting help" in exchange for contact.
- Content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademark.
- Anything illegal under US or UK law.
4. Direct messages
Messaging is for recruiting and athletics. Same rules as everywhere else, plus:
- On the free plan, a recruiter has to message an athlete first. Paid plans let athletes open the conversation.
- Do not use DMs to send sexual content, abuse, threats, spam or scam offers.
- Do not pressure anyone to move to a private app, especially a minor.
- You can block and report anyone, at any time, and the person you report is not told who reported them.
- We do not read every message. We do use automated safety checks, and we do read reported conversations.
5. Reporting
Every profile, reel and conversation has a Report option. Tell us what you saw and why. Reports are confidential.
- Report by email as a backup: support@trackreels.io.
- If someone is in immediate danger, call emergency services first. In the US that is 911.
- To report sexual exploitation of a minor in the US: NCMEC CyberTipline, CyberTipline.org or 1-800-843-5678.
- In the UK: Internet Watch Foundation at iwf.org.uk, or CEOP at ceop.police.uk.
We aim to review safety reports involving a minor within 24 hours and other reports within 72 hours.
6. What happens when rules are broken
We use automated review on uploads plus human review. Automated systems can be wrong, which is why appeals exist.
Enforcement ladder
| Step | What it means | Typical trigger |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Warning | Content is removed, you get a notice explaining which rule and what to change. Nothing else happens. | First minor breach: off topic reel, wrong mark, mild profanity, weak sourcing. |
| 2. Content removal plus strike | Content removed, a strike recorded on the account. Three strikes in 12 months moves you to step 3. | Repeat minor breaches, misleading marks, spam, low level harassment. |
| 3. Feature restriction | You keep the account but lose something: messaging, leaderboard eligibility, badges, or upload rights, for 7 to 30 days. | Repeat strikes, leaderboard manipulation, harassment, unwanted contact. |
| 4. Suspension | Account hidden from public view for 30 days. Profile is not deleted. | Serious or repeated breaches, scams, drug or PED promotion, hate speech. |
| 5. Permanent ban | Account closed, content removed, new accounts blocked. | Severe breaches, or continued breaches after suspension. |
Immediate permanent ban, no ladder, no warning
Some things skip every step:
- Any sexual content involving a minor, or sexual solicitation of a minor.
- Credible threats of violence.
- Terrorist or violent extremist content.
- Sexual content posted to any part of the platform.
- Coordinated scam operations targeting athletes.
Where the law requires it, these are reported to law enforcement, and in the US, to NCMEC. We preserve the relevant account records when we do.
Appeals
- To appeal, email support@trackreels.io from the address on your account within 30 days, quoting the notification you received and the reel or account it concerned. Enforcement notices do not yet carry an appeal link; this email address is the route.
- Appeals are reviewed by a human, not by the automated system that made the original call.
- Target response time: 7 days. You will be told the outcome and the reason.
- If we got it wrong, the content goes back up, the strike is deleted, and any leaderboard position or badge is restored.
- Bans for child sexual exploitation are not appealable.
- If you are under 18, a parent or guardian can appeal on your behalf by emailing support@trackreels.io from the address on the account and saying so.
If you think we over-blocked you
It happens. Automated filters sometimes flag normal track content: shirtless distance runners, sports bras and briefs, a face mid effort, a hurdle crash, a javelin. If your reel was removed for something like that, appeal it and say so in one line. That category of mistake is exactly what appeals are for, and we track it.
7. If you are struggling
If you post about self harm or suicide, our first response is not punishment. We may remove the content and we will show you support resources. If we believe someone is in immediate danger we may contact emergency services.
- US: call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline).
- UK: call 116 123 (Samaritans).
8. If you are under 18
- You must be at least 13 to have a TrackReels account. [Founder: confirm the age gate you actually enforce.]
- Your profile is public. Anyone on the internet can see your name, graduation year, state, events, marks and video.
- Never share your phone number, home address, school schedule, or where you train alone, in public or in a DM.
- No adult on this platform should ever ask you for private photos, ask you to move to another app, ask to meet alone, offer you money or gifts, or tell you to keep a conversation secret. If that happens: do not reply, screenshot it, hit report, and tell a parent or coach. You will never be in trouble for reporting.
- If a message makes you uncomfortable for any reason at all, block and report. You do not need to justify it.
- You or your parent can ask us to take your profile down at any time by emailing support@trackreels.io.
9. If you are a coach or recruiter
- Use your real name, your real institution, and an institutional email where you have one.
- You are responsible for your own recruiting rules compliance. NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA and state rules on contact dates and permissible communication are yours to follow. TrackReels does not enforce them for you and being on the platform is not a defense.
- Contacting a minor athlete: keep it about athletics, keep it on platform, and expect it to be reviewable.
- Never ask a minor for personal contact details, private photos, their location, or to move the conversation to a private app.
- Do not use TrackReels data to build or sell mailing lists, and do not scrape the platform.
- Misrepresenting a program, a scholarship, or an offer is grounds for permanent removal and we may notify the institution.
10. Copyright
Post video you own or have permission to use. If you believe your work has been posted without permission, send a notice to support@trackreels.io with the URL, a description of the work, your contact details, and a statement that you have a good faith belief the use is unauthorised. Repeat infringers lose their accounts.
11. Changes
We will update these guidelines as the platform grows. Material changes will be announced on the site and by email at least 14 days before they take effect, except where a change is needed immediately for safety or legal reasons.
