Boys 110m Hurdles recruiting standards, fully automatic timing: D1 14.10 to 15.70, D2 14.40 to 15.90, D3 14.70 to 16.30, NAIA 14.60 to 16.80. The top of a range is where scholarship conversations get realistic. The bottom is roughly where that division stops recruiting, though walk-on routes exist everywhere.

This event carries the largest hidden gap between high school and college of anything on the site, and almost nobody explains it before a recruit gets confused by the standards.
Every published band for the boys 110m Hurdles sits between 14.10 and 16.80. Anything inside that window puts you in a real conversation with some division. Below it, the honest read is that you need a season of improvement before a coach's recruiting filter surfaces you at all, and plenty of athletes close exactly that gap in one year.
NAIA publishes the widest band of the four, which is usually why it is the landing spot for athletes who develop late or who came to the event from another sport.
High school boys race 39 inch hurdles. NCAA men race 42 inches. The distance is the same 110m and the spacing between barriers is the same 9.14m, but every one of the ten barriers is three inches taller. That is why the published college range can look brutal next to a state meet result sheet, and it is why coaches read a high school 110m hurdles time as evidence of potential rather than as a finished mark. Your flat 100m speed and your touchdown pattern matter more here than the raw time does.
There is no indoor 110m hurdles. Indoors the event is the 60m hurdles, five barriers at the full 42 inch college height, which is often the first honest read a college coach gets on whether you can handle the taller hurdle.
A wind reading can void this mark. The legal limit is a following wind of 2.0 meters per second. Anything above that still counts for placing on the day, but a recruiting coach will not treat it as your mark, so record the wind every single time.
Walk-on conversations in the boys 110m Hurdles usually start at the bottom of the Division III and NAIA ranges: NCAA Division III 16.30 and NAIA 16.80 (published bottoms, not a walk-on standard). Programs vary: a roster spot at one school is a no at another with the same mark, and a coach who has seen the race behind the number is the one who says yes.
An honest guide to picking an event: what each one really demands, why the 400m breaks people, and which events are quietly desperate for athletes.
